Door Name Plates – Door Number Plates

Large structures such as hospitals, apartment blocks, company buildings, office centres, various stations and so on always have so many spaces and rooms that a random visitor or after all a potential service user just cannot find a place they are heading to.

Therefore usage of simple door name plates with numbers is just so necessary. Door with a number plate hung on it is much easier to find to a stranger than a door without one.

Imagine two people in two exactly the same buildings are looking for a specific office. Both of the buildings have the same halls and places, the same lightening system, but only one of them has door name plates with numbers on each and every door. Now, human nature forces us to act independent. You could knock on every door and ask for instructions, but you would probably make yourself a fool. To really act independent, people will try to find the office they are looking for on their own. Who of the people in these two buildings do you think will find the office they are searching for first? Exactly! Well, there is always a possibility that both of our individuals will walk by the office they are trying to find, but when they walk by the door with a number tag on and maybe even with a name plate, they are definitely going to stop searching, because they will be absolutely sure they found the office.

Putting number plates on doors is really productive in business and very helpful to clients, but in complex buildings with lots of corridors and spaces it is just not enough. People simply cannot know in which direction to go and so it must be shown to them. Direction guides and floor maps on each floor, in each bigger hall and in the building entrance should do best. That way visitors should orientate themselves much faster and can see where their destination is right away. Be sure that people feel much better knowing where they are and where they are going than not knowing anything at all.

Door number plates are meant to help people find the right place. There is no need to complicate plate and plate number designs, but to keep them as much simple and noticeable as possible. However, number designs are welcome. We can either pick simple number-shaped labels that we can buy at many stores or choose plates with engraved or elevated numbers.

There are many materials to build a number plate from, but the most appropriate are wood, plastic and metal. If we want our interior to look more comfortable and relaxing we should use wood. Its texture gives our doors warm touch and sophisticated look. If we do not want numbering to cost us much we should probably try plastic door plates and just label numbers on them. But if we want to look professional we should definitely order metal plates with engraved numbers. Metal provides modern look and, what is more important, reflects light, which increases plate visibility. Installing metal number plates is the best investment in office improvement because it lasts for a very long time.

Colours are one final step to improve looks and recognition of door number plates. We should try to reach colour harmony between walls, door and number plate. The wrong choices could turn visitors away, which confirms the fact that the right decision are those that keep us going.
